The driver of Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso, Yinusa Popoola Amole, popularly identified as Yinusa Olalomi, has died following injuries sustained in a road accident involving the club’s travelling party on its way to Ijebu-Ode for the AFH Pre-Season Tournament in Sagamu, Ogun State.
Amole, aged 54, reportedly sustained serious injuries in the accident on Thursday and was later pronounced dead by a medical doctor in Ogbomoso.
The tragic incident has thrown the club into mourning, with its management expressing profound sadness over the death of the driver, who was performing his official duties at the time of the accident.
In a condolence statement, the management of Crown FC extended its sympathies to the deceased’s wife, children, immediate family, friends and loved ones, praying that Almighty Allah would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
The club also called on its supporters and the people of Ogbomoso to remember the bereaved family and injured members of the travelling party in their prayers.
Meanwhile, a former General Manager of Crown FC, Kunle Oyeleye, has appealed to the Oyo State Government and the club’s management to provide meaningful support for the deceased’s family in recognition of his years of dedicated service.
Oyeleye, who served as the club’s pioneer image maker before rising to the position of General Manager, which he held until his exit in 2023, described Amole’s death as a painful loss to his family and the entire Crown FC community.
In his condolence message, Oyeleye recalled his longstanding working relationship with the late driver, noting that their years together at the club were marked by mutual understanding, shared experiences and occasional differences that never diminished their bond and respect for one another.
He described Amole as a dedicated staff member who remained committed to his responsibilities and was always available whenever his services were required.
The former general manager stressed that the circumstances surrounding the driver’s death made it imperative for the club and the state government to demonstrate compassion towards his dependants.
“Olalomi died in the course of performing his official duties. His years of service to the club should not be forgotten, and his family should not be left to bear the full burden of his untimely departure alone,” Oyeleye said.
He urged the Oyo State Government, Crown FC management and well-meaning individuals to provide tangible assistance to the family, adding that such support would ease their burden and demonstrate appreciation for the deceased’s commitment and sacrifice.
Oyeleye described the late driver as a devout Muslim and responsible family man, praying that Almighty Allah would forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
He also prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for divine comfort and strength for his wife, children and other relatives.
The former general manager extended his condolences to the club’s management, technical crew, players, staff and supporters, urging them to stand in solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult period.
The accident has left the Crown FC community grieving the loss of a staff member who, according to the club and its former general manager, remained committed to his duties.
