Former Bayelsa State Governor and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated the leadership and members of the party following the uploading of the party’s approved logo by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
Dickson, in a statement, said the development followed an order of the High Court directing INEC to recognise and upload the party logo in accordance with the NDC Constitution as ratified by its National Executive Committee (NEC).
He expressed appreciation to the Nigerian judiciary, INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and members of the commission for complying with the court judgment.
The former governor also commended the National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Moses Cleopas, members of the NEC, as well as the party’s candidates and members for their patience and commitment during the period of uncertainty.
According to him, the uploading of the logo would enable NDC candidates to print campaign materials and continue their consultations and campaigns with certainty.
Dickson assured Nigerians and NDC candidates that the party would remain committed to defending its interests and pursuing its objectives to the end.
“We are fighters, and we will fight until the end,” he said, adding that the party had resisted attempts by some individuals to use the judiciary against it.
He urged all NDC candidates to work closely with the party at all levels in constituting their campaign teams, stressing that they were party candidates and not independent candidates.
Dickson also cautioned against what he described as “self-sabotage,” propaganda, misinformation and rumours capable of creating divisions within the party.
He called on NDC members and candidates to unite and ensure that their campaigns reach Nigerians across the country without intimidation.
Dickson said the NDC was founded on vision, selfless dedication and commitment to democratic ideals, adding that the party would continue to defend the democratic rights of Nigerians and promote multi-party democracy.
“NDC all the way,” he declared.
