The Oyo State Government has expressed concern over the abduction of some corps members from the state in Imo State, assuring their families that it is working with relevant authorities to secure their safe release.
The government, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, on Friday, condemned the incident as a reprehensible act and said its thoughts were with the affected corps members and their families.
According to the statement, the state government is in communication with relevant security agencies, the Imo State Government and the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to coordinate an urgent response to the incident.
The government said Governor Seyi Makinde had directed that all necessary resources be deployed towards efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted corps members.
It stressed that the safety and wellbeing of every Oyo State indigene, whether within or outside the state, remained a priority of the administration.
The government also appealed to the families of the affected corps members to remain calm, assuring them that authorities were actively engaged in efforts to resolve the situation.
It urged security agencies to intensify search-and-rescue operations and ensure that those responsible for the abduction were brought to justice.
The Oyo State Government further pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
