The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has assured workers and pensioners that his administration, if elected, will sustain and improve on the workers’ welfare standards established by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Adekanmbi gave the assurance on Friday, September 25, 2026, during his consultative tour of Saki West and Itesiwaju Local Government Areas, where he engaged traditional rulers and other stakeholders on their expectations and development priorities.
Speaking at the palace of the Okere of Saki, Oba Surv. (Dr.) Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi (Oyedepo III), the APM candidate said the Makinde administration had established a baseline in the payment of salaries, pensions and other workers’ emoluments, which he pledged to maintain and improve upon if elected governor.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has set the baseline already about payment of salaries, pensions and other emoluments. I will only improve upon this baseline. Nothing will fall short of what it has been in this regard when I become governor next year,” Adekanmbi said.
During the tour, the governorship candidate also consulted with artisans, traders, religious leaders, youth groups and other community stakeholders in Saki West and Itesiwaju.
The stakeholders raised concerns bordering on inclusive governance, economic empowerment, healthcare, security and community development.
Their requests included grants and other support for traders, improved welfare packages for religious leaders, including Hajj and Jerusalem pilgrimage opportunities, upgrading of healthcare facilities, enhanced security and accelerated execution of community development projects.
They also called for the development of higher institutions and improved road networks linking Oke-Ogun with other parts of the country and neighbouring states and countries.
Responding, Adekanmbi appreciated the stakeholders for their frank and constructive feedback, noting that the consultations were providing him with a better understanding of the peculiar needs of communities across the state.
He said although his manifesto already addressed major areas of concern to the people of Oyo State, direct engagement with communities was helping him identify specific challenges and priorities in individual localities.
According to him, the feedback received during the consultations would further strengthen his commitment to responsive and inclusive governance and enable him to serve the people more effectively if elected.
