The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, wanted over an alleged case involving the receipt of stolen property.
Maina, 61, is identified in the EFCC notice as an indigene of Biu, Borno State. The Commission released his photograph and appealed to members of the public with useful information about his whereabouts to assist the agency.
The EFCC said information about Maina’s whereabouts could be provided through its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Abuja, or through the contact details contained in the notice.
Maina previously headed the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), which was established to address issues surrounding pension administration and alleged pension fraud.
The EFCC has prosecuted him in separate financial-crime proceedings. In November 2021, he was convicted on money-laundering charges and sentenced to a cumulative 61 years, with the terms to run concurrently, effectively amounting to eight years.

He was released from prison in February 2025 after serving part of the sentence, with the Nigerian Correctional Service later saying his release was based on good conduct.
The latest EFCC wanted notice concerns an alleged receipt of stolen property. The declaration should therefore be distinguished from the earlier conviction and other proceedings involving Maina.
The EFCC has urged anyone with credible information concerning his whereabouts to contact the Commission or the nearest police station or other security agency.
