The Federal Government is set to flag off the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road on Monday, August 24, 2026, in a major step towards improving road infrastructure and enhancing connectivity between Oyo and Ogun States.
The flag-off ceremony, organised by the Federal Ministry of Works, is scheduled to take place at the Open Field of Legacy Estate, along Idi Ayunre on the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, Oyo State, by 11:00 a.m.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved the award of the contract for the dualisation of the strategic road to JRB Construction Limited.
According to the Federal Ministry of Works, the initiative is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving the travel experience for road users, strengthening transportation infrastructure and fostering economic growth and sustainability within the region.
The road is considered an important link between Ibadan and Ijebu Ode, connecting communities and facilitating the movement of people, agricultural produce, goods and services between the two states and beyond. Its dualisation is therefore expected to contribute to improved mobility and greater economic opportunities along the corridor.
The Minister of Works, Senator (Engr.) Nweze David Umahi and other critical stakeholders including traditional rulers will grace the event
The Monday flag-off is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and other residents, marking the commencement of another major Federal Government road project in the South-West.
