The Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Wale Ojo-Lanre, has been honoured with the prestigious “Pride of Usi and Brand Ambassador Award” by Egbe Omo Usi-Ekiti Worldwide during the 45th Usi Day Celebration held in Usi-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The award, presented at the annual community celebration, recognises Ojo-Lanre’s outstanding contributions to tourism development, journalism, public service, cultural promotion and his unwavering commitment to the progress and image of his hometown, Usi-Ekiti.
The organisers described the honour as a recognition of an illustrious son whose exemplary character, integrity, professional achievements and dedication to community development have made Usi-Ekiti proud both nationally and internationally.
Speaking at the event, Ojo-Lanre expressed gratitude to the people of Usi-Ekiti for the honour, describing it as one of the greatest recognitions of his lifetime. He reaffirmed his commitment to continue promoting the cultural heritage, tourism potential and positive image of Usi-Ekiti, Ekiti State and Nigeria.
The tourism expert, lawyer and veteran journalist noted that the award would further inspire him to remain dedicated to selfless service and community development.
Ojo-Lanre has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning journalism, tourism administration, law and public service. He previously served as Chief Press Secretary to former Ekiti State Governor Segun Oni, Director-General of the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Senior Special Assistant on Tourism Development, and Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Currently serving as Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, he has continued to champion tourism promotion and cultural preservation, earning recognition within and outside Nigeria.
The 45th Usi Day Celebration attracted prominent indigenes, traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders and guests from across the country, with the presentation of the “Pride of Usi and Brand Ambassador Award” to Ojo-Lanre standing out as one of the highlights of the event.
