The Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF) has felicitated the Balogun of Ogbomosoland, High Chief Dr. Saka Adegbite Balogun, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, describing him as one of Ogbomosoland’s most illustrious sons whose lifetime of service has left an enduring legacy.
In a congratulatory message, the Foundation, under the leadership of General Oladayo Popoola (Rtd), extolled High Chief Balogun as a distinguished academic, accomplished administrator, seasoned politician and respected community leader whose remarkable contributions have positively impacted Ogbomosoland, Oyo State and Nigeria.
According to the Foundation, High Chief Balogun’s career exemplifies excellence in scholarship, public administration and community service. It noted that he lectured in the Department of History at Makerere University, Uganda, the University of Ibadan and the University of Ilorin, where he retired after a distinguished academic career.
The Foundation also highlighted his impressive record in public service, recalling that he served as Chairman of the Osun North West Local Schools Board, Presidential Liaison Officer during the administration of the late President Shehu Shagari, Chairman of the Council of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, Commissioner for Finance in the administration of the late Dr. Omololu Olunloyo in the old Oyo State, Chief of Staff to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and currently the Chairman of the Elders Council of PDP/APM in Oyo state
OCF further commended High Chief Balogun’s unwavering commitment to the progress and development of Ogbomosoland, noting that he currently serves as the National Adviser of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye, the apex socio-cultural organisation of Ogbomosoland, and is also a prominent member of the Ogbomoso Consultative Council (OCC).
Describing High Chief Balogun’s life as a shining example of integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to education, good governance and community development, the Foundation congratulated the elder statesman on attaining the remarkable milestone of 90 years. They prayed that God would grant him continued good health, strength and wisdom to continue serving humanity while inspiring present and future generations through his exemplary leadership and dedication to nation-building
