The meeting, held at the Commission’s headquarters, focused on key operational issues affecting local government administration and strategies for enhancing efficiency in service delivery.

Addressing the participants, the Chairman of the Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, commended the HLGAs, Acting HLGAs and Directors of Works for representing the Commission effectively in their respective councils.

He urged the accounting officers to strengthen discipline through punctuality, dedication to duty and improved efficiency, noting that public servants must justify the confidence reposed in them by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to him, the improved welfare of serving and retired workers, coupled with the state’s growing economy and investment-friendly environment, places greater responsibility on civil servants to deliver quality services.

Bashorun Akinwole also directed council administrative heads to ensure full compliance with government policies in order to deepen grassroots governance.

He announced that the Commission had successfully concluded the 2025 promotion exercise and would commence the issuance of promotion letters to successful officers.
Also speaking, the State Auditor-General for Local Governments, Mogaji Bioku Ismail, stressed the importance of early submission of statutory reports, maintaining uniform financial statements, safeguarding government vehicles and equipment, and promptly reporting any financial infractions.

Earlier, the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Pastor Adeola Oduola, charged the accounting officers to be proactive, uphold integrity, collaborate closely with zonal permanent secretaries and promote excellence, hard work and efficiency among staff.

The meeting also featured a presentation on the resuscitated Oyo State Housing Loan Scheme by the Regional Manager of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (Ibadan), Mrs. Toyin Jinadu, alongside the bank’s Operational Manager, Mrs. Funmilayo Sotumininu.

The strategic meeting was attended by members of the Commission, including Commissioners Alhaji Yusuf Ali Akinkunmi, Alhaji Hakeem Taiwo Oke, Hon. Christiana Nike Arewa and Hon. Oladejo Emmanuel Oladokun, JP.

Also present were the state’s zonal permanent secretaries, directors and other senior officials of the Local Government Service Commission.
