The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the deaths of retired broadcaster and former Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard.
The tragic incident came to light on Sunday after a resident of Iyana Agodo Village reported suspicious activities at Ms. Oyesiku’s residence to the police at the Owode Egba Divisional Headquarters.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary findings revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the premises.
During a thorough search, officers discovered the body of the security guard inside the security post, while the corpse of Ms. Oyesiku was later found in her apartment. Police also observed that the deceased’s vehicle was missing from the residence, raising suspicions of foul play.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has directed that a comprehensive investigation be carried out to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths and bring those responsible to justice.
“The Command has expanded surveillance and intelligence-led operations across relevant locations as part of ongoing efforts to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act,” the police statement said.
The Ogun State Police Command expressed condolences to the family of the late broadcaster, the OGTV community, media practitioners, and all those affected by the incident.
The Command assured residents that no effort would be spared in ensuring justice is served and urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and provide useful information that could assist investigators in unraveling the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
