Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the Principal of Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinle, Oriire Local Government Area, Ogbomoso, has refuted reports circulating in some sections of the media regarding the demands allegedly made by their abductors.

In a viral video believed to have emanated from the captivity of the victims, Mrs. Alamu stated that reports claiming the abductors demanded a ransom of N1 billion, a Hilux vehicle, weapons and the imposition of Sharia law are false and misleading.

According to her, the abductors have not requested money, weapons, vehicles, or any material possessions since the victims were taken captive about 24 days ago.

She explained that the only demand being made by the abductors is the release of some of their associates currently being held in prison.

“Our abductors are not demanding money or material things. They only want some of their people in prison to be released,” she said.

Mrs. Alamu also dismissed claims that the victims were being subjected to religious coercion, noting that they had not been forced to worship in any Islamic manner nor had the abductors discussed the implementation of Sharia law.

“Since we have been captured, they have not forced us to worship in any Islamic way. They are not talking about Sharia law,” she stated.

She warned that the spread of unverified information was worsening the situation and could jeopardize efforts aimed at securing their release.

“Those claims are just compounding the problems here. The reports being circulated in the media are not true. Please don’t waste our lives,” she appealed.

The clarification comes amid growing public concern over the fate of the abducted school officials and renewed calls for authorities to intensify efforts toward their safe rescue.

Mrs. Alamu is the wife of Professor Wole Alamu of the Department of Forest Resources Management, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
