last week, I saw on media space how our youth take to the street their displeasure over the chieftaincy tittle given to a fulani man and over the excesses of the traditional council of the community.

In truth, our youth have shown how courageous they are and how much they love our community Igbeti.

I must commend and applaud the Chairman Igbeti Torro and his executive member for the solidarity they extended to the youth. It is crystal clear that, they know and understand the implication and the negative effect of the actions of the traditional council in giving a chieftaincy tittle to a fulani man.

However, I must as well throw a salute to a retired but not yet tired seven star General, Cadre Omidiji Ponmile for his doggedness and for lending his voice against the action of the traditional council, you’ve proven again to be the voice of the voiceless.

It cannot be gainsaid that over the years, Igbeti has been one of the most peaceful and coordinated town in Oyo State. And this happened because the people of Igbeti are peace loving, accommodating and have the respect for the rulership of the community.

So therefore, if this same people who so much have respect for their rulership now deemed it fit to challenge and look into the eyes of the ruler, definitely the so called ruler have been getting it wrong.

Yes!, We all should call a spade a spade, the excesses of this fulani in Igbeti is becoming unbearable, they now see themselves as the Oni’Iu(The one who owns the land) they live and walk in royalty, they have no respect for our leader again, they scramble on the right of our people, our farmers are lamenting due to the fact that this fulani are feeding their cow on their farmland with their farm product.

But, in return what our traditional council will do is to compensate them with chieftaincy tittle. Well, almost all our land have even be sold to them and also, they were being given local government identification.

I can say we have numbers of people who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of Igbeti and yet they were not giving or conferred with any chieftaincy title, neither do they appreciate and acknowledge their input.

If I may ask what has this Fulani done to deserve the tittle?.

We can not afford to experience such an attack that happened in Igana, an area in Ibarapa zone of the state to happen in our land. A community battling land issue menace should not add banditry and fulanisation to it. A community battling underdevelopment should not add banditry to it.

Igbeti Land should not become a den of attackers. We need to act now and fast.

The local government together with Igbeti Torro as a matter of urgency must activate all necessary authorities and resources to put an end to Fulanisation of Igbeti.

It is not about now but about the future to come.
