The executive chairman, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Alhaji Gbolagade Busari has commended the players of the club for their brave performance against Giant Brillers in Enugu.
The 3SC boss while reacting to the 2-1 win recorded by the team last Saturday, said the players deserved commendation for overcoming their host in far away Enugu, despite huge criticism that trailed their 1-1 home draw against Abia Comets on Match Day One.
According to a press statement signed by the media officer, Tosin Omojola the chairman said “I am so excited that the boys were able to shrug off the pressure brought about by the home draw against Abia Comets to pick up the maximum points against Brillers’.
“It was a very difficult game. For a team to conceed a goal in the 96th minute and still rallied back to score the winning goal a minute later shows that this is a team with positive character”.
While describing the win as a timely response to criticism and.a perfect way of easing pressure, the 3SC helmsman challenged both the technical crew and the players to move on from there, saying that they should not look back in their pursuit of promotion ticket.
“It is pertinent to tell them that this victory should serve as the tonic needed to move on, from now on, they should not relent but brace up because to me, the battle has just begun
The 3SC chairman also praised the supporters and fans of the club for raising their voices when they were not happy, adding that it also helped in challenging the players to brace up.
“I want to appreciate all our supporters and fans for their understanding and their support and I want them to believe us, they should be rest assured that we will make them happy at the end of the season”, Busari added.
