A -25 year old Barber ,Mutiu Fatai, has been sentenced ‎to 12 strokes of the cane and one week community service by an Iyaganku  Magistrate court  Ibadan  for stealing one infinix Hot three phone valued at N48,000.00

Fatai had on April 23, 2018 been arraigned before the court presided over by Mr A.A. Adebisi ‎on a two courts charge of conspiracy and stealing

Charge no: mi/611c /2018

The prosecutor,Mr shalewa Hammed  told the court ‎that the convict and other now at large on the 9th of April 2017 at about 6:30pm at Oni and Son’s hospital area of Ibadan in the front of the hospital respectively did conspired together to commit felony to wit stealing

He said on the same date ,time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did double crossed the car of one Mrs.Taylor Funmilayo of Oni memorial hospital snatched her Phone valued at N48,000.00 .

Hammed said the committed offence contrary to the punishable under Section 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II laws of Oyo state of Nigeria, 2000

On  23,April, 2018 the convict had  pleaded not guilty and was granted bail  the sum of 50,000.00 ‎,with one surety gainfully employed and the case adjourned till  June 5 ,2018 .

On the 7th of June 2018 , the complaint ‎Mrs Taylor Funmilayo had  approach court requesting for the withdrawal of the case based on pressure from Mutiu Fatai’ Family

The Magistrate, however turned down the request insisting that he wanted to hear the fact of the matter

After listening the the fact of the matter, the Magistrate put it to the convict whether it was true or not to which he (Mutiu Fatai‎) replied in the affirmative and pleaded guilty

He further prayed the court to temper Justice with mercy, saying that dropped out of school due to financial problems from his family.

In his  ruling the Magistrate, Mr.AA Adebisi sentenced him to 12strokes  of ‎ the cane and one week community service to serve as deterrent to others
