The people of the Ibarapa – East State Constituency on Friday call on the government to Intervene in the alarming state of the Educational Sector, Electricity and Road Maintenance in the their localities and community.
Constituents agog in scores to express their minds to the Honourable Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin in a town Hall meeting organized by the National Orientation Agency held and focused to feel the people’s impulse and give update on the actions and activities of the Oyo state government so far.
On education, The masses call on the speaker to find a lasting solution to the bad situation of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa and the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Lanlate campus in terms of physical structures and educational quality.
Speaking on Road Infrastructure, the people complains the deplorable condition of the Ibadan – Eruwa Road, and local road network in okolo, Lanlate asking for renovations.
The people also call on the government to make active, the Eruwa Water Scheme so has to increase the availability of water supply in the town.
The Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin while speaking at the meeting maintain that there is no way a government can know the needs of the people except through periodic reach with them which a town hall meeting is a form.
While replying the people’s request on education, he noted that the free and quality education embarked on by Gov. Seyi Makinde is the tip of the iceberg adding that over 50,000 desk and chairs will be distributed across the state before the end of the year 2019.
He stated that he has make it a personal project to amend some laws and rebrand the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa to make it one of the best Polytechnic in the southwest states and Nigeria entirely.
He significantly mentioned that his most proud achievement so far in office is the bill of the Akufo – Eruwa Farm settlement that have just been approved by the Oyo House of Assembly.
Ogundoyin who regards Health as a necessity, promise to attend to primary health care sector adding that the Commissioner for health has been invited to discuss a way to renovate health centres and make them active.
Ogundoyin further commends the contribution of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola towards his effort on the development of Eruwa Town and its environs.
He then revealed that very soon, a constituency office will be situated in Eruwa and Lanlate where the masses can report their complains, observation and advice.
Also giving her remarks, State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Oyo State Directorate, Mrs. Dolapo Dosunmu described the importance of a town hall meeting as a means to update the constituency on the activities of the government, and an avenue for the masses to have their say in the governance.
She added that mainstream transparency and accountability into the legislative practice will not only consolidate democracy but also encourage due process and the rule of law as well as bridging the yawning gap between the duty bearers and the citizens.
Dosunmu also commended the kindness and high level commitment put on by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany to towards the entrenchment of enduring participatory democracy and promotion of transparency in governance of Nigeria and Africa entirely.
Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Highness, Oba Samuel Adegbola also speaking at the event described the town hall meeting as a welcome development that create an avenue for the government to identify the half solved needs of the people.
The monarch further enjoins the people to support Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin with prayer towards the success in all activities he embarks on.
The Town Hall meeting tagged “Promoting, Enduring Democratic Culture Through Stewardship By Elected Public Officials” have in attendance, traditional chiefs, community leaders, and masses from Eruwa, Lanlate and other towns and community in the constituency.
