The Oyo Agenda Group (OAG) has emphatically urged residents of Oyo State to dismiss recent reports suggesting that Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, a well-known philanthropist and the Chairman and CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, has withdrawn from the race for the 2027 governorship election.
The statement comes in response to misinformation circulating in various media outlets.
In a press statement, the spokesperson for the group, Alhaji Akeem Adebayo expressed disbelief over the rumors, saying “It is very unthinkable for anybody to believe such a story that for someone who has not joined any political party will decide to withdraw from a race.”
His reaction reflects a growing concern among supporters who view Sanusi as a beacon of hope for the state’s governance.
Adebayo elaborated on the grassroots support for Sanusi, noting that the call for him (Sanusi) to run is not merely a personal aspiration but a collective desire among the people of Oyo State.
“The call for him to be the next governor wasn’t his own making, but the wish of the larger residents of the state. We know he is the right person for the task of governance in the state,” he stated, highlighting the widespread enthusiasm and anticipation surrounding Sanusi’s potential candidacy.
The spokesperson also praised Sanusi’s remarkable contributions to both the business sector and the community, adding that, his unprecedented achievements in the private sector have not only transformed his businesses but have also positively impacted the lives of countless individuals.
“He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to uplifting the downtrodden within his capacity,” Adebayo remarked.
In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Adebayo pointed out Sanusi’s vision for Oyo State. “If such a person could now be allowed to be in the helm of affairs in the state, it is very obvious to the blind that Oyo State will be made a mini London in no distant time,” he declared.
The OAG also highlighted Sanusi’s plans to prioritise education, healthcare, and infrastructure if elected, pointing out that, “Supporters believe that his business acumen, coupled with his passion for community service, positions him uniquely to address the challenges facing Oyo State.”
“We envision a future where our youth are empowered through quality education, our healthcare system is robust, and our infrastructure meets the demands of a growing population.”
“This marks the first time in Oyo’s history that residents are actively clamoring for an individual to run for a political office,” Akinlere added, reiterating the group’s commitment to seeing Sanusi in leadership.
“As the 2027 governorship election approaches, the Oyo Agenda Group, located at No.36, Gbadebo Street, Mokola, Ibadan, remains steadfast in its advocacy for Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, seeking to galvanize public support and ensure that the true narrative of his candidacy prevails over misleading reports,” he posited.
