The 2019 edition of World Twins Festival is scheduled to hold on Saturday 12 October, 2019 at Igboora, Oyo state Nigeria.
The festival which is put together by the people of Igboora in collaborations with Twins World Creations is aimed at showcasing the multi-functional promotion of international twinning cultural heritance endowed in Africa through Nigeria which has the world highest concentration of multiple births with credit to Igboora town (the Land of twins) in Oyo State, Nigeria.
The event which is supported by MTN, Indomie and Igboora Community Foundation will hold at Methodist Grammar School, Igboora by 10:00am. The theme is Twinning for Global Peace.
According to the organizers of the event, Ambassador Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye, this year event is leveraging on the successful gathering of over 2,034 sets of Twins at the 2018 edition of World Twins Festival. They added that they are expecting a gathering of 5,000 sets of twins for the 2019 edition.
“It will be an ample opportunity to enhance a proposal/resolution for the declaration of ‘International Day for multiple births. This will further set Oyo State as the foremost twins-tourism destination in the world.” the organizers added.
Activities slated for the day include twin’s appellation, twins talent show, twins contest, parade and special prayer for peace in Nigeria, Africa and the World at large.
“There will be a Twins pilgrimage to Igbora on that day where twins and other multiple births will converge on the Tarmac of Cultural centre, Mokola hill by 7:30am to take a day trip to Igboora to attend the festival.” They added.
The host is His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye, Olu of Igboora while the Chairman Local Organizing Committee is His Royal Highness, Oba Adedamola Badmus, Olu of Iberekodo, Igboora. His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III (CFR JP, LLD, SAP), the Alaafin of Oyo is the Grad patron of the day while the Royal father of the day is Oba Dr. Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Ajeogunguniso 1, the Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Mother of the Day is Her Royal Highness, Ayaba Anuoluwapo Adeyemi, ( Iya Ibeji) Queen of Alaafin.
