Enugu Rangers attacker Ifeanyi George and one others died in an auto crash today while another one was seriously injured
The ex eyimba player and his team mate were involed in a crash along Benin Onitsha road while returning to their base for the ten days given by the management.
Ifeanyi died on the spo while the other one died in the hospital and the third person is still in coma
The management of Rangers International while confirming the event said they recieved the report of involvement of some of their players in a fatal accident while traveling for the ten-days break given few days back.
According to scetchy information available to the management, our attacking sensation, Ifeanyi George who was in his vehicle driven by his friend including a B team player, had the vehicle smashed into a parked articulated vehicle along Onitsha-Agbor-Benin road, Sunday morning.
General Manager of the side, Prince Davidson Owumi said, ‘We just heard this disturbing news this morning and what we hear is not palatable. I await information from my officials that are already on their way to the spot where the accident was said to have taken place. We call for prayers in this hour of pains.”
Recall that management on Friday, March 20, 2020, approved a ten-days break for the team because of the suspension of all football activities by NFF.
Meanwhile the management, players and staff of Crown Football Club have commiserated with the entire family of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu over the untimely death of Ifeanyi George who lost his life in a ghastly auto accident on his way home.
It was reported that some players of Enugu Rangers FC were involved in a fatal accident while travelling for the ten (10) days break given few days back.
The attacking sensation, Ifeanyi George, who died on the spot, was in his vehicle driven by his friend including a team B player when the vehicle smashed into a parked articulated truck along Onitsha-Agbor-Benin express road on Sunday morning the 22nd day of March, 2020.
The Acting General Manager ,Mr Oyeleye Oyekunle, who spoke on behalf of Crown FC felt so sad about the ugly incident but urged the Enugu Rangers family to remain steadfast.
“Why is this happening in the football fraternity ? What actually is our sins ? Auto accident again ? Ifeanyi George gone just like that ? Three (3) deaths in few weeks? Very painful but we say thank you God because You are the All Knowing.
” I, on behalf of the Ajilete Warriors share in this moment of grief of Enugu Rangers over the sudden death of Ifeanyi George, a prominent star of the team. May the Lord put a stop to these sad moments, uphold the families he left behind and grant all his the fortitude to bear this great loss”, Mr Oyeleye Oyekunle said.
The Acting General Manager also wished the two (2) other players who were involved in the accident but were receiving treatment in the hospital the very speedy recovery.
