Senator Godwill Akpabio has emerged the President of the 10th Senate While Hon Tajudeen Abass Wins House of Reps Speakership’s Seat
The duo and their deputies were prefred choice of the ruling All Progressives Congress for the leadership of the National Assembly
The former Akwa Ibom governor was returned elected as President of the 10th Senate after scoring 63 votes defeating Senator Yari who scored 46 votes.
Senator Akpabio is succeeding Senator Ahmad Lawan, who is also a member of the 10th Senate.
Akpabio’s deputy Senator Jibrin Barau from Kano South senatorial district was nominated by Senator Dave Umahi and Saliu Mustapha, a legislator from Kwara North, also endorsed his nomination. He was thereafter sworn in by the Clerk of National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal, as Deputy Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.
Also, Hon Tajudeen Abbas, defeated Idris Wase and Aminu Jaji in a voice vote on Tuesday at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
He polled 352 votes of the total 359 votes cast while Jaji and Wase scored three votes each
