Usman Baba Pategi, known mostly as Samanja Mazan Famaas hails from Pategi Emirate, his father and great grandfather reign as Etsu Pategi, a Nupe town in now Kwara state.

He was born on May 20, 1942 and died on 12th November 2023 at the age of 81.

He is the son of Etsu Usman Patako late King of Pategi.

He started his early education in Pategi primary school and then went to Ilorin Middle School.

He worked with public works department in the mechanical store, before joining Northern Broadcasting Corporation, (NBC) in Kaduna.

He left the Broadcasting cooperation to join the army and trained at the Signal Training School, Apapa, he served under General Sani Abacha and General Sani Sami. Later he retired in 1985.

The popular actor, writer and director feeaures in some Hausa films which include,Samanja,Yusuf’s Ladan’s Zaman Duniya Iyawa Ne and others.

His peers includeds Chika Apala known as (Zebrudaya) and others.

He introduced Hausa comedy-films in Nigeria (known as Samanja).

In 2010, he traveled to India for a heart surgery
